TAMPA, Fla. (September 26, 2024) – The American Athletic Conference announced the 2024-25 conference matchups. The University of South Florida will have nine home games and nine road contests. The 2024-25 men's basketball season is presented by Tampa General Hospital.
It was a historic season for the South Florida Bulls in 2023-24 as the program finished with a school-record 25 wins and claimed its first conference regular season title in program history in head coach
Amir Abdur-Rahim's first season with the program. The Bulls return three players who started at least 13 games last season, including
Kobe Knox, who started all 33 games, and
Jayden Reid, who was named to the AAC All-Freshman Team.
South Florida begins the quest to defend the AAC regular season title at home on December 31, as East Carolina makes the trip to Tampa. The Bulls won the only matchup with the Pirates last season in Greenville, 71-60.
The Bulls open the new year with a two-game road stint. South Florida takes on Wichita State on January 6, followed by a trip to Tulane on January 11. The Bulls won the lone games with Wichita State and Tulane last season.
USF returns to the friendly confines of the Yuengling Center on January 15 for a showdown with the defending AAC Tournament Champions, UAB. The Bulls remain at home for their only contest of the season against Tulsa on January 18.
South Florida hits the road for two contests in the state of North Carolina for games against Charlotte on January 22, followed by a second matchup with ECU on January 25.
The Bulls end January with a matchup against Rice on January 28 inside the Yuengling Center. Last season, the Bulls swept Rice in their two meetings.
South Florida opens February with an in-state battle at Florida Atlantic on February 2. USF won the lone meeting last season, 90-86.
The Bulls return to the YC for a three-game stint beginning on February 6 as the Temple Owls come to town. The Bulls and the Shockers will meet for the second time on February 9. South Florida will clash with Memphis on February 13. The Bulls knocked off the No. 10 ranked Tigers in comeback fashion in Memphis, 74-73.
The Bulls hit the road for two games beginning on February 16 for their second matchup with the UAB Blazers. USF ends the road trip with its only matchup with UTSA on February 19.
South Florida is back at home for its lone game with North Texas on February 23. The Bulls bested the Mean Green 60-55 last season in Denton. South Florida rounds out February with a road trip to Philadelphia for a matchup with Temple on February 26.
USF ends the season with a tough two-game slate. South Florida plays its final home game of the regular season on March 2 as Florida Atlantic travels across the state. The Bulls end the 2024-25 regular season with a road showdown against the Memphis Tigers on March 7.
The 2025 American Men's Basketball Championship will be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 12-16.

The South Florida men's basketball team is led by Amir Abdur-Rahim, who was named the 11th head coach in program history on March 29, 2023. In his first season at South Florida, Abdur-Rahim was a unanimous choice for American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, Abdur-Rahim has led USF to a 25-8 (16-2, AAC) record and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament as the Bulls claimed the program's first-ever regular season conference title with a two-game cushion. USF's win total marks a nine-win improvement over 2022-23, among the top 20 improvements in the nation in 2023-24, and just the sixth 20-win season in program history. The Bulls' 25 wins set the program record, which bested the 24 wins set in 2018-19.
USF earned its first-ever Top 25 ranking in men's basketball during the season, reaching as high as No. 24 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Polls. The Bulls' 16 wins in conference play are the most in program history and USF held the longest win streak in the nation, posting 15 straight victories in conference play to register the program's longest-ever win streak.
USF has retired three numbers in its history: Chucky Atkins (12), Charlie Bradley (30), and Radenko Dobras (31). The Bulls have earned three NCAA tournament bids, appeared in the NIT eight times, and won the 2019 College Basketball Invitational.
