Bulls and Eagles Tie, 3-3

Halfway through the opening half, the Bulls struck first on a Lovro Kostanjsek-assisted goal for Issah Hamidu, the first in his career. The Eagles quickly responded with a goal from Shoki Yoshida, tying it up, 1-1. Gunnar Studenhofft received an assist on a long pass from Issah Hamidu to drive toward the net for his first goal and USF took a 2-1 lead. All three goals came within a minute, the fastest stretch so far this season.

Coming out of the break, Addrian Knights-Browne put FGCU on the board to tie it at 2-2. The Eagles took their first lead of the night shortly after on a corner-assisted header from Lucas Windschauer. USF would knot the game back up once again near the midway point of the 2nd half on sailing goal score from Jemone Barclay, first of his career. The score tied it at 3-3.

USF and FGCU had late scoring chances in the final minutes. Oliver Weng and Felix Schaefer were able to keep away the pressure to finish out the contest.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- The all-time record between South Florida and FGCU moves to 5-4-7. Tonight was the third straight tie in the series.
- Hamidu's goal marked the first of his career.
- Studenhofft scored his first goal as a Bull and his 13th career goal.
- FGCU's first goal of the season was netted by Shoki Yoshida.
- Barclay scored the first goal of his colligate career.
- Between both teams, there were six yellow cards.
South Florida hosts UC Irvine on Monday, Sept. 9 for its annual salute to service game. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will stream live on ESPN+.

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3.
