TAMPA, Fla., October 27, 2025 – Over the weekend, the University of South Florida's Women's Tennis team competed in the American Individual Championship. Representing the Bulls, Francesca Miglio and Melisa Senli exhibited strength and depth as they competed in both singles and doubles.
In the first round of singles, Senli opened singles play with back-to-back straight-set victories, defeating Rice in a dominant 6-4 6-2 win, and Temple 6-3 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals. The senior battled top-seeded Wichita State in a three-set clash before falling 2-6 6-3 0-6.
Miglio also impressed with a strong singles campaign, taking down North Texas 6-3 7-5, and Temple 7-5 6-3, to reach the quarterfinals. The junior secured one of the biggest wins of the weekend, upsetting the No. 2 seed from Rice in a pair of tiebreaks, 7-6(5) 7-6(6) before her run ended against the No. 3 seed from Wichita State in the semifinals.
Together, Senli and Miglio continued their doubles momentum from regionals, earning an opening round win over UAB 8-3 before falling to the No. 2-seed from Memphis, 5-8.
The Bulls' performance in Tulsa highlighted their resilience and ability to compete with the top talent in the conference, with strong wins over several seeded opponents.
