USF Men’s Soccer Falls 4-3 to Florida Atlantic at Corbett Stadium

Bulls’ seniors João Belmudes and Brandon Nyagurungo scored on Senior Night in high-scoring matchup

Tampa, Fla., Oct. 29, 2025 — The University of South Florida (8-2-5, 4-1-2) fell 4-3 to Florida Atlantic (7-5-2, 3-2-1) at Corbett Stadium on Wednesday night.
 
The Bulls opened the first half with an aggressive offense, putting constant pressure on FAU's defense. João Belmudes converted a penalty kick in the 40th minute to give South Florida the early lead. FAU evened the score on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute to even the score. The half closed at 1-1.
 
FAU took the lead in the 59th minute, but the Bulls quickly responded with a penalty kick goal by Brandon Nyagurungo in the 61st minute to even the match. Belmudes scored again in the 70th minute off an assist from Yanis Lasri to put South Florida back in front. Florida Atlantic scored in the 73rd and 89th minutes to secure the 4-3 win. 

South Florida clinched a postseason berth the day after their 2-1 win over Temple last week, as Charlotte lost to FIU 1-0 Saturday night.

UP NEXT
USF travels to Memphis on Sunday, Nov. 2, to close out the regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The Bulls will look to finish their American Conference campaign strong in their final regular-season matchup. Post season is locked up for South Florida, but the Bulls need a win to secure the best possible seeding.
