ORLANDO, Fla. (October 7, 2025)- The University of South Florida Men's Tennis team traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the UCF Invitational alongside three other teams. The Bulls, as well as the UCF Knights, the FAU Owls and the Stetson Hatters competed in a Battle of Florida on October 3-5.
The Bulls took one doubles match from the FAU Owls, with a 6-1 win recorded by Max Mroz and Ettore Danesi on Court 2. However, the Bulls dominated in singles with a clinched win. On Court 1, Hugo Car recorded a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win. On Court 2, Gughi Verdese had a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4) victory. Timeo Gaillard added with a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-4 victory on Court 6.
Against the UCF Knights, South Florida earned a doubles win on Court 3 with a score of 6-2, delivered by Toto Llanes and Stepan Mruzek. Mroz added a singles win with a 7-6 (1), 6-4 win on Court 6.
The Bulls dominated the Stetson Hatters with a sweep on both doubles and singles courts. On Court 1, Car and James Newton earned a 6-1 win. Mroz and Danesi earned a 7-5 win on Court 2 while Gaillard and Llanes added a 6-2 win on Court 3. On Court 1, Car recorded a 6-0, 6-3 win. On Court 2, Elijah Cham battled for a 7-5, 2-6, 11-9 victory. Llanes earned a 6-3, 7-5 triumph on Court 3, while Newton added on a 6-1, 6-1 quick win on Court 4. On Court 5, Danesi had a 6-4, 6-2 win while Gaillard wrapped it up on Court 6 with a 7-5, 6-4 victory.

The Bulls will travel to Gainesville, Florida to compete in the ITA Regionals from October 8-13. The Bulls will be sending their full team for the first time this season.

Head coach Ashley Fisher is in his ninth year at the helm of the program for the 2024-25 season. Fischer has guided the Bulls to four NCAA Tournaments, including three trips to the second round.
