SOUTH FLORIDA TALLIES 16 WINS ON THE WEEKEND

The Bulls were undefeated as a team in doubles, while two Bulls went undefeated in singles at the Bonita Bay Classic.

TAMPA (November 11, 2025)The University of South Florida Men's Tennis team showed out at the Bonita Bay Classic, hosted by FGCU. The Bulls tallied 16 wins over three days, including going undefeated as a team for doubles. Stepan Mruzek and Timeo Gaillard were undefeated in singles at the tournament

Four teams traveled to Fort Myers, Fla. to compete in both singles and doubles competitions. These teams included Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Atlantic University, Drake University and University of South Florida. 

On day 1, Mruzek and Max Mroz took swift singles wins over FAU players, while Gaillard battled to a three-set victory. At doubles, the Bulls mixed up the partners every day of the competition, showing the diversity and resilience of the team. Gaillard/ Agustin Cuellar and Mruzek/Mroz were paired together for day 1, taking wins over Drake's doubles teams

On day 2, all four Bulls took singles wins over Drake University. All four wins were done in two sets. For doubles, Mruzek/ Cuellar and Mroz/ Gaillard also earned quick wins over FGCU

To wrap up day 3, Cuellar and Gaillard earned two-set victories over FGCU singles, while Mruzek took a win due to injury. The doubles pairings were Cuellar/ Mroz and Mruzek/ Gaillard who wrapped up the tournament with wins to earn the Bulls an undefeated doubles title

Max Mroz (South Florida) def. Francisco Landeras (Drake) 6-1, 6-1

Day 3

Agustin Cuellar (South Florida) def. Jonathan Baron (FGCU) 6-2, 6-0

Stepan Mruzek (South Florida) def. Pablo Paternostro (FGCU) (inj.)

Timeo Gaillard (South Florida) def. Harry Michalowski (FGCU) 6-0, 6-3
