Bulls Fall to Fairfield in Competitive WBCA Challenge Matchup

The Bulls use multiple runs and milestone moments to stay competitive before the game shifts in the final minutes.

TAMPA, Fla., November 13, 2025 – The University of South Florida women's basketball team fell to Fairfield, 80–72, at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, despite multiple scoring runs and a strong push through the third quarter. 

USF (2-1) opened the matchup with a three from Stefanie Ingram but Fairfield jumped ahead early and held a 25–16 lead after the first quarter. The Bulls tightened up defensively in the second quarter and began closing the gap, using a 10–0 run to build momentum and pull within 37-42 at halftime. 

During the second quarter, Edyn Battle reached a major milestone, becoming a 1,500-point career scorer, part of her 15-point performance on the night. 

USF carried its momentum into the second half and delivered another 10–0 run in the third quarter to take the lead of the game, 48–45. The Bulls continued to attack and entered the fourth with a 61–60 advantage.

USF's scoring balance remained consistent across the lineup. Battle recorded her third double-digit scoring game of the season and the 64th of her career, while Katie Davidson added 17 points, marking her third double-digit outing of the year and 59th of her career. L'or Mputu had 12 rebounds, securing her second double-digit rebounding effort this season and the 16th of her career. 

Ingram continued her offensive presence throughout the game, finishing with 14 points, marking her second double-digit scoring performance of the season and the 19th of her career. 
Fairfield closed out the game on a 5–4 run in the final minutes, sealing the result despite USF's strong stretches throughout the afternoon.

  • Edyn Battle surpassed 1,500 career points and recorded her third double-digit scoring outing of the season and the 64th of her career.
