South Florida's CJ Brown Earns Honorable Mention in The American Conference Weekly Awards

Brown led USF in scoring and assists at the Battle 4 Atlantis and posted the tournament’s second-best assist-to-turnover ratio.

TAMPA, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2025) – South Florida guard CJ Brown was named to The American Conference Weekly Honorable Mention list for Player of the Week, after a strong three-game showing at the Battle4Atlantis, averaging 12.0 points, six assists, 4.67 rebounds, and one steal.

Brown led the Bulls in both scoring and assists for the tournament and was one of the event's most efficient playmakers. He finished second among all qualified players in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.5), totaling 18 assists to just four turnovers. The sophomore also ranked second on the team in rebounds during the week, a notable mark for a guard.

vs. VCU (L, 78–66): 11 points, five assists, seven rebounds
vs. WKU (W, 97–91): 18 points, nine assists, six rebounds, one block, two steals
vs. Colorado State (L, 83–68): seven points, four assists, one rebound, one steal

He finished the week 16th in scoring, second in assists, 18th in rebounding, and second in assist-to-turnover ratio among all Battle 4 Atlantis participants.

The Bulls return home to Tampa, Fla., and will play Utah State on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7:00 p.m. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+ and listen live on Bulls Unlimited. The game is presented by Hale-Law and will be a white-out, with free white shirts given out to the first 1,500 fans.

South Florida men's basketball named Bryan Hodgson, 37, as the program's 12th head coach on March 24, 2025. Hodgson came to Tampa from Arkansas State, where he led the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons and its first postseason appearance since 1999 in his two seasons at the helm.
 
The program, entering its 55th season in 2025-26, most recently won the American Athletic Conference regular season championship in 2023-24 and has made 13 postseason appearances, including three NCAA Tournaments, nine NITs, and a CBI championship in 2019.
