USF Women’s Basketball Battled No. 3 South Carolina

Jelena Bulajic produced a career-high 10 points

Tampa, Fla. (December 18, 2025)Jelena Bulajic scored a career high for the University of South Florida women's basketball team on Thursday against No. 3 South Carolina. The Bulls (6-6) fell to the Gamecocks (11-1), 103-44.
 
Bulajic led the Bulls with a career-high 10 points. Carla Brito led the team with four assists. L'or Mputu and Ines Piper tied for a team-best seven rebounds. Piper added a team-high two blocked shots.
 
South Carolina opened the game with the first four points, but USF responded with poise, outscoring the Gamecocks 8–6 during the stretch to trim the margin to 12–6. The Bulls continued to battle throughout the opening quarter, with South Carolina holding a 28–15 lead at the end of the period.

South Florida continued to battle with energy and determination in the second quarter, showing grit on both ends of the floor. The Bulls went into halftime trailing 52–25 while maintaining their competitive effort. The USF bench outscored the USC bench 8-4 in the first half.
 
South Florida continued to compete with energy and determination in the second half, showing resilience against one of the nation's top teams. The Bulls stayed aggressive on both ends, creating scoring opportunities, battling on the glass, and getting valuable contributions from multiple players. USF continued to fight through the final horn, gaining experience, confidence, and momentum that will carry forward as the season continues. The Bulls fell 103-44.
 
Joyce Edwards recorded a game-high 34 points on 14-of-15 shooting from the field. Tessa Johnson added 16 points, while Ta'Niya Latson went for 15. Madina Okot posted a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds and 12 points. Raven Johnson closed out the double-digit scoring with 11 points.

The Bulls return to the Yuengling Center on Sunday for the final nonconference game of the season. South Florida hosts Navy at 1 p.m. on ESPN+. The women's game will be a doubleheader with the men's team. Sunday will be the annual Teddy Bear Toss at halftime.
