TAMPA (February 8, 2025)- The University of South Florida Bulls (4-2) opened the weekend with a 7-0 victory over University of North Florida (1-7) on Friday afternoon. This road win was the first of seven straight away matches that the Bulls have before returning to play in Tampa, Fla.

The Bulls were able to put their first point on the board with a swift win in Doubles. Michael Chan and Gughi Verdese took a 6-1 triumph on Doubles 3, followed by a 6-2 win by Tom Pavlekovich-Smith and Hugo Car on Doubles 2 to solidify the point. Agustin Cuellar and Stepan Mruzek went unfinished but were leading 4-3 on Doubles 1.

The Bulls dominated in singles, sweeping the Osprey on all six courts. Ben Hudson swiftly finished first on Court 5 with a 6-2, 6-4 win. Cueller quickly followed with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on Court 3, putting him 4-0 in the season in both Singles and Doubles.

Court 1 finished with a 6-1, 7-5 triumph produced by Car which promised the match in favor of the Bulls. A score of 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 on Court 4 by Verdese and 7-5, 7-5 by Mruzek on Court 6 left one court left. On Court 2, Cham started down a set with a 3-6 score, but battled back in the next two with scores of 7-6, 1-0 (11-9) to earn the win and give the Bulls their first sweep of the 2025 Spring season.

The Bulls will travel to Statesboro, Ga to face the Georgia Southern Eagles (3-3) on Sunday for the third matchup in history. South Florida is 2-0 against the Eagles, pulling a 4-3 win in their last matchup in 2024 at the Bull's home courts in Tampa, Fla.
