TAMPA, FLA. (March 9, 2025) -The South Florida women's tennis team (4-9) swept Toledo (7-3), 6-1, and Liberty (5-9), 4-3, on Friday and Sunday at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
On Friday against Toledo, the Bulls took an early 1-0 lead with a doubles sweep over the Rockets.
Sienna Leeson and
Margherita Marcon secured the opening doubles victory on Court One, 6-1.
Josefine Falster and
Charlotte Ruud replicated that performance on Court Three, closing out paired play with another 6-1 win.
In singles play,
Melisa Senli dominated Court One with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Shortly after,
Sienna Leeson delivered a strong win in two sets (6-1, 6-3) on Court Two.
Margherita Marcon clinched the match for USF with a hard-fought (5-7, 6-2, 6-0) victory on Court Three. The Bulls went on to take two of the final three singles matches, securing a 6-1 overall win.
On Sunday against Liberty, the Flames claimed the opening doubles point. Although
Sienna Leeson and
Margherita Marcon earned a 6-2 win on Court One, the Bulls dropped the final two doubles matches.
Josefine Falster collected USF's first point in singles action, winning her first collegiate solo start with a (6-1, 7-5) victory on Court Five. Falster's win sparked a streak of three consecutive singles victories by
Melisa Senli (Court One; 7-6, 6-2),
Charlotte Ruud (Court Four; 2-6, 6-3, 6-3), and
Sienna Leeson (Court Two; 6-4, 2-6, 7-6), who clinched the win for the Bulls.
Following the weekend's matches, USF enters Wednesday's match on a three-game win streak—their first multi-game win streak in a season since March 2024.
