NO. 27 SOUTH FLORIDA EARNS MULTIPLE AAC HONORS

The Bulls earned Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and All-Conference teams.

TAMPA (May 1)- The No. 27 University of South Florida Men's Tennis team earned four American Athletic Conference Honors, named on Wednesday.

No. 66 Hugo Car was chosen as the 2025 American Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year. Car is the sixth Bull to be named Player of the Year and the first since 2019. Car has a 20-6 singles record, including a 15-match winning streak.

Gughi Verdese was named the 2025 American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year. Verdese os the second Bull to be named Freshman of the Year and the first since 2019. Verdese went 18-5 in dual matches in his first year.

In addition, Car was named to the All-Conference Singles team, while Car and Ettore Danesi were named to the All-Conference Doubles team.

Head coach Ashley Fisher is in his ninth year at the helm of the program for the 2024-25 season. Fischer has guided the Bulls to four NCAA Tournaments, including three trips to the second round. He was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 & 2019 after leading USF to the conference title in each of those seasons.
