COLUMBIA, S.C. (August 17, 2025) – The University of South Florida women's soccer team battled No. 21 South Carolina for 90 minutes in Columbia on Sunday.
Mia Rodach scored the first goal of her career, but the Bulls (1-1) fell to the Gamecocks (2-0), 3-1.
The Gamecocks scored the first goal of the match in the eighth minute and took a 1-0 lead into the break. South Florida and South Carolina each tallied five shots in the first half.
Rodach scored her first college goal in the 52nd minute. After a ball was passed back to the goalkeeper, Rodach was able to steal the ball off the South Carolina keeper. Her touch put the ball in the back of the net and tied the match at 1-1.
South Carolina went back in front in the 62nd minute after back-to-back saves inside the box. Katie Shea Collins scored on the third rebound. Collins scored her second goal of the match in the 80th minute and extended the Gamecocks' lead to 3-1. Collins is on the 2025 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
Gaby Rourke got the start in goal for the Bulls. She recorded two saves in her 45 minutes.
Leire Herraez Gallach was in goal for the second half of the match and made a season-high five saves.
