
South Florida Secures Home Win in 3-2 Battle Over FGCU

Early momentum and a late winner propel Bulls to victory in season’s first Corbett Stadium match.
TAMPA, Fla., August 31, 2025 – The University of South Florida (2-0-2) defeated Florida Gulf Coast University (1-2-0) with a 3-2 victory at Corbett Soccer Stadium, marking their first game at home this season.
The first half saw South Florida start strong with Fabio Bozesan scoring the opening goal in the 30th minute, assisted by Brandon Nyagurungo. Just under a minute later, Pedro Faife extended the lead to 2-0 with assistance from Bozesan.
South Florida maintained a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime, supported by solid goalkeeping from Jahiem Wickham, who made multiple saves throughout the half.
The second half commenced with a flurry of activity, as both teams made adjustments to their lineups. The Bulls' Wickham made a crucial save in the 55th minute, denying the Eagles' Brooks Beeman a chance to equalize.
The decisive moment for South Florida came in the 83rd minute when Jakob Auby put the Bulls ahead, scoring off an assist from Faife.
