TAMPA, September 11, 2025 – The University of South Florida volleyball team will travel to Minneapolis to face the #13 Minnesota Golden Gophers, South Dakota State Jackrabbits and Dayton Flyers in a triage of matches at the Diet Coke Classic this Friday through Sunday.

The Bulls will start the Classic on Friday with a 7 p.m. match against the Golden Gophers in Maturi Pavillion. On Saturday, the Bulls will face the Jackrabbits at 3 p.m. On Sunday, the Bulls and Flyers will close out the weekend with a 11:30 a.m. match. All three of the matches will be streamed on BTN+.

Setting The Stage:
The Bulls (2-3) will wrap up their six-match streak of Power Four opponents this weekend with a match against #13 Minnesota. South Florida is still looking for its first road win of the season. The Bulls are coming off a weekend sweep over Florida State and South Carolina. South Florida earned their first win over Florida State since 2002.Â

Series History:
Minnesota leads the all-time series against South Florida, 3-0, with their last match-up being back in 2009. South Florida will be facing South Dakota State for the first time in program history. The Dayton Flyers also leads the all-time series against the Bulls, 3-0, with their last match-up being last season.

Note-A-Bull:
Maria Clara Andrade, a key player, leads her team with 70 kills and was only five away from tying her career-high of 28 in a recent match against Florida.
Arianna Beckham is another important contributor, with 52 kills and an average of 2.48 kills per set.

Additional Notes:
Raegan Richardson also stands out with 111 assists and seven service aces. On the defensive side,
Samiha Foster leads with 76 digs, while
Iyanna Garvin has recorded 15 blocks this season, while
Taelyn Bentley is averaging 1.43 blocks per set.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her sixth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2025. Named head coach on January 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls to a conference championship and the program's last NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. South Florida won the 2024 AAC regular-season title, earning Jolene Shepardson her first Coach of the Year Honor. In 2023, the Bulls won the AAC East Division title, made a postseason appearance in the NIVC, won three matches, and advanced to the Fab Four to mark the longest postseason run in program history. South Florida Volleyball has won eight Player of the Year honors, most recently in Maria Clara Andrade in 2024. The Bulls have also had four Setter of the Year honors, most recently in Caroline Dykes in 2024. South Florida has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 13 conference titles since its inception in 1972. The Bulls play in The Corral (1,000), located adjacent to the Yuengling Center on the USF campus in Tampa.
