BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (January 6, 2026) – The University of South Florida women's basketball team earned its first road American Conference win over UAB on Tuesday.
Katie Davidson tallied a game-high 20 points as the Bulls (9-7, 2-1 American) defeated the Blazers (7-8, 0-3 American) 70-65 at Bartow Arena.
The Bulls ended the Blazers' five-game home winning streak. Davidson produced a game-high 20 points. She finished the game 2-for-3 behind the 3-point line. She brought down three rebounds and one steal.
Edyn Battle posted an 18-point effort. She dished out a season-high six assists to go along with one rebound and one steal.
L'or Mputu brought down a game-high 14 rebounds. She chipped in with six points, one steal, and one assist.
As a team, the Bulls held the advantage in points in the paint, 42-34. South Florida outscored UAB in fast break points 25-4. USF had the edge in bench points (11-7) and second chance points (8-4).
How It Happened
The Blazers opened the game on an 8-2 run. The Bulls were resilient and responded with a 9-2 run, taking an 11-10 lead midway through the first quarter. UAB outscored USF the remainder of the stanza and took a 19-15 lead into the second.
South Florida went on an 11-3 run to begin the second quarter. Battle recorded four points, and Davidson knocked down a 3-pointer in transition. The Bulls continued to apply the pressure and end the half on a 9-1 run. During the run, Bulajic knocked down her second 3-pointer of the game, and Davidson added four points. USF took a 35-25 lead into the break. USF held UAB to just six points in the second quarter, which was the second-fewest points allowed in a quarter this season.
The second half started as a back-and-forth battle, with the teams trading baskets. The Bulls held a 42-33 lead midway through the third.
Carla Brito picked up a huge and-1 coming out of the timeout, which led to a 9-4 run. USF led by 10, 51-41, after three quarters.
The Bulls outscored the Blazers 7-4 to start the final quarter, which forced a UAB timeout. Davidson got the run started with her second 3-pointer. South Florida went on to win the game 70-65.
