Faife’s late goal earns South Florida a point after two Jacksonville penalty kicks
TAMPA, Fla. (October 14, 2026) – South Florida men's soccer tied Jacksonville, 2-2, on Wednesday night at Corbett Stadium.
Pedro Faife scored a sliding goal in the 84th minute off an assist from Tyler Richardson to pull the Bulls (1-10-2, 0-4-1) even with the Dolphins (4-5-3, 0-3-2), after Leonardo Davi C Santos converted two second-half penalty kicks for Jacksonville.
South Florida struck first when Jakob Auby maneuvered his way into the box and fired a shot to the bottom left corner to take a 1-0 lead. The Bulls carried that lead into the break and held a 7-1 advantage in first-half corner kicks. Marcus Steinhaeuser made a huge save on Iver Skorve in the eighth minute to keep the Bulls in front.
Steinhaeuser denied Matias Tobon in the 62nd minute to preserve the one-goal lead, but Jacksonville broke through in the 68th minute when Davi C Santos converted a penalty kick. He would convert a second penalty kick in the 79th minute to put the Dolphins ahead, 2-1, following a lengthy review.
The Bulls continued to press and their resilience paid off just five minutes later. Richardson came flying down the wing and found Faife, who finished in the 84th minute to make it 2-2. South Florida continued to press down the stretch, with Auby getting a shot off in the 87th minute and Max Kiefer sending an attempt just wide in the 90th. Jacksonville held an 11-9 edge in shots, while South Florida had a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
