Senior guard honored by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for her service in Tampa and beyond; will wear the Servant Leader patch on her uniform this season.
TAMPA, Fla., October 29, 2026 – The University of South Florida women's basketball senior guard Amourie Porter has been named the program's 2027 Kay Yow Servant Leader, head coach Kristy Curry announced.
The award, presented by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, honors student-athletes nominated by their coaches for reflecting Coach Yow's resolve, grace, generosity, and servant's heart on and off the court. Porter will wear the Kay Yow Servant Leader patch on her uniform throughout the 2026-27 season.
"We are so proud of Amourie for being named our Kay Yow Servant Leader," Curry said. "Coach Yow showed all of us what it looks like to fight with courage and to put others first, and Amourie carries that spirit every day. She gives her time to her teammates, her family, and her community without ever being asked, and she brings the same resolve to her work on the court. Wearing this patch is an honor, and there's no one more deserving to represent our program and Coach Yow's legacy this season."
Since arriving in Tampa, Porter has volunteered with local food pantries, the Pure Initiative, and Project Downtown Tampa. During her time at Winthrop, she served the Rock Hill, S.C., community through the Hope of Rock Hill Food Bank, Rock Hill School District, Groves Senior Living, and St. Anne's Catholic Church.
On the court, Porter joined the Bulls this spring as a two-time Big South First Team All-Conference selection. She averaged 16.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for Winthrop in 2025-26. The Glen Burnie, Md., native was also the Big South's first-ever Newcomer of the Year in 2024-25.
Up Next
The Bulls open the 2026-27 season at 5 p.m. on November 2 against Furman in the Yuengling Center.
