TAMPA, Fla., February 15, 2026 – The University of South Florida Men's Tennis team opened their new home courts in impressive fashion Sunday afternoon, defeating Georgia Southern, 6-1.
The Bulls secured the doubles point with a pair of commanding victories. On court one, Hugo Car and Ettore Danesi earned a 6-1 win over Gregoire Delattre and Davis Taylor. James Newton and Toto Llanes followed with a 6-1 victory on court two against the Eagles to give South Florida the early 1-0 lead. The match on court three featuring Stepan Mruzek and Max Mroz was left unfinished.
In singles, South Florida claimed five matches, with the points coming in order from the bottom of the lineup up. Gughi Verdese was first off the court, earning a 6-1, 6-3 win on court six over Matthew Mitchell. Agustin Cuellar followed with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory on court five against Davis Taylor to push the Bulls closer to the finish.
Hugo Car delivered the clinching point on court one, securing a 6-3, 6-3 win over Delattre to seal the match in front of the home crowd.
With the team result decided, the remaining matches played out. Elijah Cham added a 6-3, 6-2 victory on court two, while Ettore Danesi battled to a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win on court four. Georgia Southern earned its lone point in a tightly contested three-set match on court three.
South Florida returns to action Friday when it hosts Stetson, continuing its homestand on the newly debuted courts.

Head coach Ashley Fisher is in his ninth year at the helm of the program for the 2025-26 season. Fischer has guided the Bulls to four NCAA Tournaments, including three trips to the second round. He was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 & 2019 after leading USF to the conference title in each of those seasons.
