USF Beach Volleyball Opens Inaugural Season at Green Wave Invitational

Bulls travel to New Orleans for program’s first-ever matches Friday and Saturday

TAMPA, Fla., February 19, 2026 – The University of South Florida beach volleyball team will officially begin its inaugural season, traveling to New Orleans to compete in the Green Wave Invitational hosted by Tulane at the White Sands Volleyball Courts.
 
The Bulls will play four opponents across two days, opening program history Friday against New Orleans and LSU before facing Texas A&M–Corpus Christi and host Tulane on Saturday.
 
Setting the Stage
South Florida enters the weekend ready to make history as the beach volleyball program makes its competitive debut. The Bulls' inaugural roster features a mix of experienced collegiate players and international talent, positioning USF to immediately compete in its first season.
 
The Green Wave Invitational marks the first opportunity for the Bulls to compete head-to-head against Division I beach volleyball programs and establish the foundation for the program's future.
 
Match Format
Each dual features five pairs competing simultaneously. USF's Pair 1 faces the opponent's Pair 1, Pair 2 vs. Pair 2, and so on through Pair 5. Each pair plays a match, and the team that wins at least three of the five pair matchups earns the program win.
 
 
Weekend Schedule
Friday, Feb. 20
vs. New Orleans – 12:00 p.m. & 1:15 p.m.
vs. LSU – 1:30 p.m. & 2:35 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 21
vs. Texas A&M–Corpus Christi – 9:30 a.m. & 10:45 a.m.
vs. Tulane – 2:30 p.m. & 3:45 p.m.
 
Note-A-Bulls:
• Program Debut – The Green Wave Invitational marks the first official competition in USF Beach Volleyball program history. 
• Opening Weekend – South Florida will play four duals across two days to open the season.
• Road Start – All matches take place in New Orleans at Tulane's White Sands Volleyball Courts.

About USF Beach Volleyball
The University of South Florida Beach Volleyball program is the newest program in the now 21-team USF Athletics program. South Florida Beach Volleyball joined Conference USA on July 1, 2025. Pri Piantadosi-Lima was named South Florida's first-ever beach volleyball head coach on June 6, 2023. She also serves as the head coach of USAV Beach and the national team development program and was honored as the 2022 USA Volleyball Female Junior Coach of the Year. Before joining South Florida, Piantadosi-Lima helped launch the Eckerd College program in 2015 as an assistant coach and helped lead the program to its first AVCA national championship and two consecutive NCAA championship podium finishes.
