TAMPA, Fla. — South Florida women's tennis pushed North Florida to the wire on Saturday afternoon at the USF Championship Courts, falling 4–3 as the match was decided in a third-set tiebreak on the final singles court.
The Bulls set the tone early by claiming the doubles point, earning wins on courts one and two. Sienna Leeson and Margherita Marcon opened doubles play with a 6–4 victory at the top spot, while Josefine Falster and Charlotte Ruud followed with a 6–3 win on court two to give South Florida the early advantage.
Singles play remained tightly contested throughout the lineup. South Florida picked up two wins, with Melisa Senli earning a straight-set victory on court two, 7–5, 6–2, and Amelie Drukerova adding another point with a 6–2, 7–5 win on court six.
Several other courts went the distance, highlighted by strong performances from Francesca Miglio and Josefine Falster. Miglio battled through three sets on court four, while Falster also pushed her singles match to three sets on court five, keeping the team score within reach deep into the afternoon.
With the match hanging in the balance, the final point came down to court one, where Leeson competed in a three-set battle. After taking the opening set 6–2, Leeson fell short the second set 5–7 before falling in a decisive third-set tiebreak, 6–7 (0–7), as North Florida clinched the match.
