TAMPA, Fla., February 9, 2026 — The South Florida Men's Tennis team hits the road to face Miami on Tuesday at noon, looking to bounce back after a challenging California trip. The Bulls showed flashes of their top-level play with standout singles wins from Elijah Cham and Stepan Mruzek, demonstrating their depth and competitive spirit. As they prepare to face a familiar in-state rival, USF will be looking to put together consistent performances and capitalize on key opportunities.
USF enters the matchup with several nationally ranked players leading the charge. The doubles team of Hugo Car and James Newton holds the No. 90 ranking, while Elijah Cham and Hugo Car are ranked No. 112 and No. 119, respectively, in singles. These rankings highlight the strength of the Bulls' lineup and their ability to challenge their opponent on the court.
The Bulls have faced Miami 12 times in program history, and while the Hurricanes have traditionally been a tough opponent, USF is focused on executing their game plan and building momentum. Head coach Ashley Fisher is in his ninth year at the helm of the program for the 2024-25 season. Fischer has guided the Bulls to four NCAA Tournaments, including three trips to the second round. He was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 & 2019 after leading USF to the conference title in each of those seasons.
