TAMPA, Fla. – March 1, 2026 – South Florida Men's Basketball and head coach Bryan Hodgson have clinched an American Conference regular season championship for the second time in program history on Sunday.
 
The Bulls routed Tulane 90-62 behind Wes Enis' game-high 25 points and Izaiyah Nelson's 14 points, 13 rebounds and career-high six assists. Nelson recorded his 1,000th career rebound, and Enis recorded his 250^th career made three-point field goal.
 
The Bulls now own at least a share of an American Conference regular season championship for the second time in program history. The first came just two seasons ago under the late head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim during the 2023-24 campaign.
 
The Bulls (21-8, 13-3 American) need one more win to clinch the outright championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
 
The Bulls' 13 conference wins are the second most in a single season in school history, trailing only Abdur-Rahim's 16 during that 2023-24 title run.
 
Two Bulls recorded a double-double (Nelson and Omojafo) for the third time this season, as USF won its seventh straight conference game, tying for the second-longest streak in program history.
 
Enis caught fire early and never cooled off, shooting nine-of-14 from the field and knocking down five-of-10 from beyond the arc to surpass 250 career three-pointers. He also set a new program record for three-point attempts in a season with 255, surpassing the previous mark of 252. Enis now has 94 made threes on the year, just three shy of Tyler Harris' program record of 97 set during the 2022-23 season.
 
Nelson finished with 14 points, a career-high six assists and 13 rebounds for his 18th double-double this season. His milestone 1,000th career rebound came during a dominant performance on the glass as USF outrebounded Tulane 43-32.
 
Omojafo added 16 points and 10 rebounds, giving the Bulls a pair of double-doubles.
 
Joseph Pinion chipped in 12 points and four assists while connecting on a three-pointer for the 29th consecutive game, the second-longest streak in program history behind Jamal McMurray's 31-game run from 2015-17. Pinion has 95 made threes this season, also closing in on Harris' record.
 
Off the bench, Gavin Hightower was a catalyst on both ends with eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. His energy helped USF force 18 Tulane turnovers that the Bulls converted into 20 points.
 
USF jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first three minutes and stretched the advantage to 40-28 with 4:16 remaining in the first half thanks to a 12-0 run. The Bulls took a 49-38 lead into the break and blew the game open in the second half, leading by as many as 22.
 
The Bulls dominated in the paint, outscoring the Green Wave 42-14, and were clinical at the free-throw line, going 21-of-25 (84.0%). Over their last three games, USF has shot 68-of-79 from the charity stripe.
 
Saturday's 90-point outing was the Bulls' program-record 14th this season, tying for the fourth most in a single season among all Florida Division I programs. The all-time record is 21 by Jacksonville during the 1969-70 campaign.
 
USF has scored 2,560 points through 29 games, the second-highest total in school history behind the 2,752 scored across 38 games in 2018-19.
 
Note-A-Bulls:

• Conference Champions – With the win, South Florida clinched at least a share of the American Conference regular season title, the second in program history and first since 2023-24 under the late head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim. The Bulls need one more win to clinch the outright championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
• 1,000 Career Rebounds – Izaiyah Nelson reached the 1,000 career rebound milestone, finishing with 13 boards, a career-high six assists and 14 points for his 18th double-double this season.
• 250 Career Threes – Wes Enis surpassed 250 career three-pointers and set a new program record for three-point attempts in a season (255), breaking the previous mark of 252.
• Record-Setting Offense – Saturday marked USF's program-record 14th 90-point game this season, tying for fourth all-time in a single season among Florida D-I programs (record: 21, Jacksonville, 1969-70). The Bulls have scored 2,560 points through 29 games, the second-highest total in program history.
• Perimeter Production – Joseph Pinion (95) and Wes Enis (94) are each within striking distance of Tyler Harris' single-season program record of 97 made three-pointers (2022-23).
• Pinion's Streak – Joseph Pinion has made a three-pointer in 29 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in program history behind Jamal McMurray's 31-game run from 2015-17.
• Winning Streak – USF has won seven straight conference games, tied for the second-longest conference winning streak in program history (record: 15).
• From the Line – The Bulls went 21-of-25 from the free-throw line and have shot 68-of-79 over their last three games.
• Double-Double Duo – Nelson (14 pts, 13 reb) and Josh Omojafo (16 pts, 10 reb) each posted double-doubles. The third time this USF has had two teammates score double-doubles.

South Florida men's basketball named Bryan Hodgson, 37, as the program's 12th head coach on March 24, 2025. Hodgson came to Tampa from Arkansas State, where he led the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons and its first postseason appearance since 1999 in his two seasons at the helm.
 
The program, entering its 55^th season in 2025-26, most recently won the American Athletic Conference regular season championship in 2023-24 and has made 13 postseason appearances, including three NCAA Tournaments, nine NITs, and a CBI championship in 2019.
