The Bulls dropped the doubles point despite a strong performance on court three, where Francesca Miglio and Melisa Senli earned a 6–3 victory. The visitors claimed courts two and one to take the early 1–0 lead heading into singles.
After a shift in the lineup with Leeson getting pulled from court two, USF responded immediately in singles with a dominant performance from Miglio on court four. The junior set the tone for the comeback, defeating her opponent 6–2, 6–3 to even the match and give the Bulls their first point of the evening.
Moments later, Senli added to the momentum on court one. The senior delivered a composed performance at the top of the lineup, cruising to a straight-set 6–3, 6–1 win to push South Florida ahead.
After the rams briefly leveled the match with wins on courts two and five, the Bulls were forced into a pair of deciding battles that would determine the match outcome.
On court three, Margherita Marcon delivered one of the biggest performances of the day. After dropping the opening set, the sophomore battled back to claim the second and force a deciding tiebreak, ultimately completing the comeback with a 3–6, 6–2, 7–5 victory to put South Florida within one point of the win.
With the match hanging in the balance, Loana Vargas stepped up on court six. Vargas fought through a tight first set before taking control of the second-set tiebreak, with her teammates lined up courtside, cheering her on through every point of the breaker. She secured a 6–3, 7–6 victory to clinch the match for the Bulls and cap off the singles comeback.
The win gives South Florida a much-needed boost of momentum as the Bulls continue their homestand. USF returns to the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on Friday when the Bulls host No. 43 Yale at 5 p.m. ET.
