TAMPA, Fla., March 13, 2026 — South Florida opened the match with a strong doubles performance but ultimately fell 4–1 to No. 43 Yale on Friday evening at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Bulls set the tone early in doubles play, claiming the opening point of the match against the nationally ranked Bulldogs. The duo of Loana Vargas and Dharani Niroshan got things started on court three, finishing first with a commanding 6–2 victory to put South Florida in position early. Shortly after, Francesca Miglio and Melisa Senli sealed the doubles point for the Bulls on court two with a 6–3 win, giving South Florida a 1–0 lead before singles play began.
In singles, Yale responded to secure the team result, but the Bulls continued to battle throughout the lineup. On court two, Sienna Leeson showed resilience after dropping the opening set, mounting an impressive comeback effort in the second. Leeson pushed the set to a tight tiebreak before narrowly falling as the Bulldogs began their comeback.
Francesca Miglio also forced a decisive third set on court five, extending the contest and highlighting the Bulls' fight across the singles courts.
South Florida will look to build on its strong doubles showing when the Bulls return to the courts Sunday, hosting Liberty at 1:30 p.m. at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
