USF Women's Golf Wins Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Collegiate; Plascencia Earns First Individual Title

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. (March 24, 2026)- The University of South Florida women's golf team won the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate today, marking their first tournament win of the season. The Bulls finished 26 under par and won by an impressive 10 strokes over second-place, Florida Gulf Coast.

USF's total marked the lowest 54-hole score in program history and the first tournament win under coach AJ Newell.

Regina Plascencia took home the individual title finishing 9 under par. Her best score came during round 1 while she tallied 5 bogeys for a total score of 66, five under par. She finished round 2 one under par and closed out the tournament with a steady 68, three under par.

Tiphani Knight finished in third place. Her lowest round came during round 1 when she shot a 67 and continued her strong performance through the final two rounds.

Emma Kim and Cherry Marley tied for fifth place, both finishing five under par. Kim started off hot with her lowest round of four under par coming during the first round whereas Marley's best round came in clutch during the final round of four under par. 

Holly Mclean helped lead the team to win, placing tied for 36th individually.

Alice Webb and Matylda Krawczynska competed individually. Webb finished tied for 40 and Krawczynska finished tied for 58.

The Bulls head to their final regular season tournament in West Lafayette, Indiana at the Boilermaker Spring Classic. The tournament will take place on April 12-13.

Tampa native AJ Newell, a former LPGA Tour player and NCAA All-American, enters her second season as head coach of the USF women's golf team. In her first season, she coached Leonor Medeiros to the American All-Conference Team. Newell coached the Bulls to four top 10 finishes in the 2024-25 season.
 

Newell took over leadership of the Bulls' program following a successful three-year stint as assistant coach at the University of Michigan, where she helped guide the Wolverines to three straight NCAA Regional appearances, a 2022 Big Ten title, and a trip to the 2022 NCAA Championship Finals.
