TULSA, Okla. (March 8, 2026) – The University of South Florida men's tennis team (3-11) battled but ultimately fell 4–2 to University of Tulsa on Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Tulsa opened the match by claiming the doubles point. At the No. 3 position, Hugo Car and Timeo Gaillard earned a strong 7–5 win for the Bulls over Victor Tosetto and Gus Tettamble. However, the Golden Hurricane secured victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts to take the early 1–0 advantage heading into singles play.
South Florida responded in singles with two victories. Agustin Cuellar delivered a straight-set performance at No. 4 singles, defeating Connor Doig 6–4, 6–1 to even the momentum early in the singles slate. Timeo Gaillard added another point for the Bulls at the No. 5 spot, battling through three sets to defeat Ruben Fernandez 6–3, 3–6, 6–1.
Tulsa ultimately sealed the match with wins at the top three singles positions. At No. 1 singles, Elijah Cham pushed Nikita Volonski in a pair of tight sets before falling in back-to-back tiebreakers. The Golden Hurricane also captured victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to clinch the match.
James Newton's match at No. 6 singles remained unfinished when Tulsa secured the deciding point.
With the result, South Florida moves to 3–11 on the season. The Bulls will look to bounce back as they continue their spring schedule in upcoming competition.
