TAMPAÂ - The USF men's tennis team, seeded No. 4, opens American Conference Tournament play in the quarterfinals after a first-round bye, taking on No. 5 Wichita State on Friday at 10 a.m. Central in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wichita State also earned a bye, setting up a fresh postseason match-up with both teams beginning tournament play at the same stage.
USF enters the quarterfinals in strong form, riding a five-match win streak and having won six of its last seven contests. The Bulls will look to extend that momentum as they begin their conference tournament run against a familiar opponent.
The two programs have met frequently in recent years, with USF holding a 5–1 record in the all-time series. Their most recent postseason meeting came in last year's American Conference Tournament, where the Bulls earned a 4–1 victory over the Shockers to advance through the bracket.
Wichita State will look to challenge that history in a high-stakes quarterfinal, with both teams fully rested and fighting for a spot in the semifinals. Key moments in doubles and early singles will likely set the tone for which team takes control of the match.
The winner of Friday's quarterfinal will advance to the semifinals on Saturday at 12 p.m. Central, where they will face the winner of the Rice matchup on the other side of the bracket.
With a semifinal berth on the line, USF will aim to carry its current form into postseason play and open its tournament run with a strong statement performance.
