Box Score HOUSTON, Tx., April 16, 2026 -The University of South Florida women's tennis team opened its American Conference Championship run with a 4-2 victory over No. 5 seed Florida Atlantic on Wednesday afternoon at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
The Bulls came out strong in doubles play, securing the opening point after wins on courts two and three. Amelie Drukerova and Josefine Falster earned a 7-6 victory at the No. 2 position before Francesca Miglio and Melisa Senli clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 win on court three.
In singles, USF extended its lead early as Drukerova was first off the court with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles, pushing the Bulls ahead 2-0. FAU answered with a point on court three, but Falster responded with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 4 spot to restore the two-point advantage.
The Owls picked up another point on court one to make it 3-2, setting the stage for Sienna Leeson at the No. 2 position. Leeson delivered the match-clinching point for the Bulls, battling through a first-set tiebreak before taking the second set for a 7-6, 6-2 victory and sealing the 4-2 win.
After falling in the first round of last year's conference tournament, the Bulls open this year's championship with a statement win to keep their postseason run alive.
With the victory, USF advances to the quarterfinal round of the American Conference Championship, where they will face No. 4 Tulsa on Friday, April 17.
USF enters the matchup with a 2-7 all-time record against Tulsa, with the two programs last meeting in 2022 when the Bulls fell 4-0.
First serve is set for 10 a.m. Central as USF looks to build on its opening-round momentum and continue its run through the conference tournament.
