TULSA, Okla. (April 17, 2026) – The University of South Florida men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Friday morning, defeating Wichita State, 4-0, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Bulls (11-13) set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. The duo of Ettore Danesi and Gughi Verdese earned a key victory at No. 2 doubles, while Hugo Car and Timeo Gaillard followed with a clinching win at No. 3 to give South Florida the early 1-0 advantage.
Car carried that momentum into singles play, putting the Bulls ahead 2-0 with a straight-sets victory at the top spot. Toto Llanes extended the lead to 3-0 with a strong performance at No. 6Â singles, and Stepan Mruzek sealed the match for USF with a win on court three.
Several other matches remained unfinished as the Bulls clinched the overall victory, showcasing depth across the lineup in both singles and doubles play.
With the sweep, South Florida builds momentum heading into its next matchup, as the Bulls are set to face No. 1 Rice for the second time this season. USF will look to carry its strong doubles play and decisive singles performances into the rematch against the conference's top-ranked team.Â
