USF Track & Field Deliver Strong Showing at Mt. SAC Relays Against Elite Field

Bulls record podium finish and multiple top-five results in one of the nation’s deepest outdoor meets

WALNUT, Calif., April 18, 2026 – The University of South Florida track and field program competed against elite national competition at the Mt. SAC Relays, turning in strong performances, personal bests and top finishes across multiple events.

Facing one of the deepest fields of the outdoor season, the Bulls delivered competitive marks on both the track and in the field, highlighted by a podium finish and multiple top-five results against nationally ranked athletes.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Middle Distance:

Mercy Angaamchaab secured a podium finish in the women's 800m, placing third with a time of 2:10.34.

Sprints:

Jaleel Croal turned in a top-five finish in the men's 100m elite section, clocking 10.07 to place fifth. He also finished seventh in the elite 200m with a time of 20.60.

Lynette Scutari followed with a fifth-place finish in the women's 100m with a time of 11.67.

Pole Vault:

Nikodem Pochopien recorded a fourth-place finish in the men's pole vault, clearing 5.20m.

Relays:

South Florida's men's 4x100m relay team of Shomari Pettigrew, Isaac Chandra, Jaleel Croal and Cayden Broadnax placed sixth in the elite section with a time of 39.51.

Jumps:

Tristen Evatt posted a mark of 5.81m in the women's long jump to place 16th.

Up Next:
South Florida travels to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field, on April 23–25.

Erik Jenkins is in his seventh season as the USF head coach. The South Florida men's track and field team has won five straight American Conference championships. The Bulls' 4x400m relay squad— Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey and Gabriel Moronta — claimed a national title with a program-record time of 3:00.42 at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning a top-15 finish as a team. This past season, nine Bulls athletes earned All-America honors, including Kobe Babin, Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey, Gabriel Moronta, Shomari Pettigrew, Jaleel Croal, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, and Vincent Ugwoke.
