TAMPA, Fla. (June 3, 2026)- The University of South Florida Women's Soccer Head Coach
Chris Brown has announced the addition of two assistant coaches. Brown welcomed Steve Golas as an assistant coach and Jennifer Wandt as an assistant and goalkeeper coach as the Bulls prepare for the start of the 2026 season in August.
Steve Golas - Assistant Coach
Golas arrives at USF after spending four seasons at the University of Kentucky from 2022-26, where he served as an assistant coach and was heavily involved in the Wildcats' recruiting efforts.
"We are thrilled to welcome Steve to the Bulls family," Brown said. "He has a proven track record of building winning cultures and developing student-athletes at the highest levels. His relentless work ethic and recruiting network will be invaluable as we continue to compete for championships. He knows exactly what it takes to succeed, and we can't wait to get to work with him in Tampa."
Golas brings more than 25 years of collegiate coaching experience to the Bulls, highlighted by six NCAA tournament appearances throughout his career and several head coaching positions in collegiate soccer. In addition to Kentucky's back-to-back NCAA berths, he helped guide multiple programs to postseason success, including NCAA appearances and several conference championships during his tenure with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
"The excitement I have to join USF and be a part of an athletic department so committed to competing and winning at both a conference and national level is overwhelming," said
Golas. "The tradition of excellence in the women's soccer program is something I can't wait to be a part of, and I look forward to building on that success and helping lead Bulls soccer to a very bright future."
Golas brings extensive NCAA coaching experience across all levels of the game. He had a successful run across two different stints as an assistant with the Milwaukee Panthers, helping guide one of the nation's top defensive teams in 2021. The Panthers led NCAA Division I in goals-against average, save percentage, and shutout percentage while setting multiple program records.
He also contributed to a historic 2015 season that saw Milwaukee win a Horizon League regular-season title and helped the Panthers produce three conference tournament championships and NCAA Tournament appearances during his time with the program.
Golas has also held head coaching positions at Dixie State University, Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Lewis & Clark College, Millikin and William Penn as well as assistant positions at several other collegiate programs, leading major turnarounds and postseason appearances throughout his career. He began his coaching career after playing collegiately at Coe College.
Jennifer Wandt - Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach
Wandt joins USF after serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Marquette University during the 2025 season. Prior to Marquette, she spent the 2024 campaign as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach at Indiana University after beginning her collegiate coaching career at Illinois State University.
"We're thrilled to welcome Jennifer to our coaching staff at USF," said Brown. "She brings a strong commitment to player development, particularly in the goalkeeping space, and a proven track record of elevating programs on and off the field. Her energy, integrity and passion for mentoring student-athletes align with our program values, and we look forward to the impact she will have on our team and community."
A former professional player with Trelleborgs FF in Sweden, Wandt starred collegiately as a goalkeeper at Baylor University where she earned multiple All-Big 12 team selections and finished her career as the program's all-time leader in shutouts and wins.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the USF staff," said Wandt. "South Florida's rich tradition, paired with Chris's vision for the program makes this an exciting place to be. I'm ready to hit the ground running, continue developing the goalkeepers and help build an environment and culture that our players can thrive in and ultimately continue winning championships."
