South Florida Menโs Basketball to Take on Saint Louis in A-10/American Showcase on ESPN

Double-header event will see the Bulls take on the defending A-10 regular-season champion and Memphis vs. Dayton at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio
TAMPA (AUG. 6, 2026)ย โ South Florida men's basketball will compete in the debut of the A10/American Showcase on ESPN. ESPN Events, in collaboration with the American Conference and the Atlantic 10 Conference, announced the multi-year men's college basketball event on Friday.
The debut event will feature the Bulls taking on the Saintย Louis on Sunday, Nov. 29 at Nationwide Arena (19,500) in Columbus, Ohio. The Bulls and Billikens game will be one half of a double-header that will also feature Memphis taking on Dayton in Columbus. Game times and ESPN platform designations will be announced later.
Future editions of the event will rotate participating schools and host locations within the Atlantic 10 and American Conference footprints. As part of the multi-year agreement, additional participating schools and host sites will be announced later.

Saint Louis enters 2026-27 as the defending Atlantic 10 regular-season champion and advanced to the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Three starters from last year's team are returning for head coach Josh Schertz. Led by senior Robbie Avila, Saint Louis set a program wins record with a 29-6 mark (15-3 A-10) last year as they downed Georgia (102-77) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before falling in the second round to eventual national champion Michigan (95-72). ย
This will be the first meeting between the Bulls and Billikens.
South Florida has previously announced 2026-27 season non-conference matchups at DePaul (Thurs., Nov. 5), vs. St. Joseph's (Nov. 11) in the Veteran's Classic, at George Mason (Sat., Nov. 21), at Dayton (Sat., Dec. 12) and vs. Kennesaw State (Sat., Dec. 19). A return date vs. Alabama (Wed., Dec. 16) in the Yuengling Center announced last year, which is part of a two-for-one series that began last season in Tuscaloosa and will be completed at Alabama in 2027, is also on the slate.
The Bulls welcomed 15 new players in head coach Chris Mack's first season at the helm as South Florida returned no players from the 2025-26 squad that went 25-9, reached the NCAA tournament and won an American Conference title (claiming both the regular season and tournament crowns) for the second time in three years. The Bulls reloaded with 12 transfer portal additions and three high school signees. The portal class features four players with a composite rating of .9100 or higher and a four-star rating, according to 247Sports. The Bulls' average transfer rating of 89.00 ranks third among Group of 6 programs, while the overall class ranked among the top 10 nationally among the Group of 6 according to 247Sports.

South Florida men's basketball namedย Chris Mack as the program's 13th head coach on March 25, 2026. Mack came to Tampa after a pair of 20-win seasons at the College of Charleston. With more than 300 career wins, he brought a career winning percentage of nearly 68 percent to South Florida, including 12 20-win seasons and nine NCAA Tournament appearances. He led both Xavier and Louisville to the NCAA Tournament and made four Sweet 16 appearances and one Elite Eight with Xavier.

The program, entering its 56thย season in 2026-27, won American Conference regular season championships in 2024 and 2026 and claimed the conference tournament title in 2026. The Bulls have made 14 postseason appearances, including four NCAA Tournaments (the last in 2026), nine NITs, and a CBI championship in 2019. Three former Bulls players โ Chucky Atkins, Charlie Bradley, and Rodenko Dobras โ have had their jerseys retired and are members of the USF Athletic Hall of Fame, while two coaches โ Amir Abdur-Rahim (2023-24) and Bobby Paschal (1986-96) โ join them in the Hall of Fame.
