Annual Spring Game returns to Corbett Field Saturday

Family egg hunt, tailgate party, live music, food truck highlight day

TAMPA, APRIL 13, 2017 –  For the first time since defeating South Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl, the USF football team will play in front of Bulls fans Saturday, when the annual Spring Game kicks off at 4 p.m. at Corbett Stadium.

A large crowd is expected for an afternoon full of events on what is expected to be a beautiful day in the mid-80’s. For those out of the area or unable to attend, the game will be streamed live on the USF football Facebook page with the video paired with the radio broadcast from the Voice of the Bulls Jim Louk and longtime analyst Mark Robinson. The radio broadcast, which will begin at 3:30 p.m., can also be heard live on the USF/IMG Radio Network (820 AM in Tampa) and streamed for free on GoUSFBulls.com.

For the fourth straight year the Spring Game, which has drawn capacity crowds the past two years, will be played at Corbett Field on the USF campus and will be free to the public. A large crowd is expected and fans are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and utilize seating areas on the grass berms surrounding the playing surface.

Parking for the Spring Game will be in the Sun Dome lots, north end of Sycamore Drive and campus lots. Fan are encouraged to arrive early and tailgate with regular Raymond James Stadium tailgating regulations in effect on campus.

A canned food drive will be held at the gates of Corbett Stadium. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food items to be donated to Metropolitan Ministries.

The football game will be part of a doubleheader of USF Athletics action on campus that day. The Bulls baseball team will take on Cincinnati at noon in American Athletic Conference action at Red McEwen Field.

The UnBULLievable Tailgate Party featuring inflatables, live music, food trucks, the HOT Band Road Show, family egg hunt and best tailgate contest will be held on the south end of Sycamore Drive prior to the start of the Spring Game.

The UnBULLievable Tailgate Party will be held from 2-4 p.m. Festivities kickoff with the family egg hunt at 2:30 p.m. on the Morsani Football Practice Complex fields (located adjacent to Sycamore Drive). Live music act “Actual Bank Robbers” will play the first of two sets starting at 2:45 p.m. The HOT Band Road Show will take place at 3:15 p.m. Winners of the UnBULLievable Tailgate Contest will be announced at 3:30 p.m.

Season ticket members may pick up their commemorative Birmingham Bowl tickets at the west entrance to Corbett Stadium. Members may pick up one commemorative ticket per season ticket seat.

New season tickets for the 2017 USF football season will be available in-person at the Spring Game on Saturday and go on sale online and via phone starting Monday, April 17. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-Go-Bulls, visiting www.USFBullsTix.com or in-person at the USF Ticket Office (Lee Roy Selmon Athletic Center) Monday-through-Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. 

The Bulls will play seven home games in Raymond James Stadium in 2017, hosting notable games vs. Illinois, Houston, Temple, Tulsa and Cincinnati.

USF finished the 2016 season ranked No. 19 in the Associated Press poll with a school record 11 wins following the program’s fifth-ever bowl victory in the Birmingham Bowl. The Bulls’ 11-2 record marked the fifth-best winning percentage in FBS football in 2016 and one of just 11 teams to reach 11 wins. USF set nearly 40 team and individual records in 2016, including team records for total yards (6,650), rushing yards (3,714), touchdowns (77) and scoring (569). Junior quarterback Quinton Flowers was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Year and led a school-record 10 players named to the all-conference team, six of which, including Flowers, will return in 2017.
