Frank Wintrich returns to the University of South Florida as the associate director of strength and conditioning after spending the past two seasons as the director of athletic development at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.

Prior to his appointment to The Citadel, Wintrich served as a graduate assistant at USF, assisting head strength coach Ron McKeefery with the implementation of strength training protocols for the Bulls football program.

While at The Citadel, Wintrich directed the strength program that provided all aspects of athletic development for 15 varsity sports. Under his leadership, the program underwent a total makeover, including renovation of the strength training facility, expansion of the athletic development staff and the unification of training protocols for all athletes, while primarily working with football and baseball.

During his tenure, the Bulldog football program reached new heights, having its best record in 15 years, its first back-to-back winning conference record in 15 years and its first winning record in 10 years.  In his time with the Bulldog football program, Wintrich aided in the development of nine SoCon all-conference athletes, three all-state athletes and two All-Americans.

Before his terms at USF and The Citadel, Wintrich served for two years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Utah State University and one year as a coaching assistant at Arizona State University.  He began his strength and conditioning career as the head strength coach at Hardin-Simmons University.

Wintrich earned his bachelor's of science in sports and fitness management from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2002.  While at KWC, Wintrich earned two varsity letters, was nominated team captain two consecutive years and was a two time All-American at linebacker.  He attended Seminole High School in Seminole, Fla.  He currently resides in Palm Harbor with his wife, Kelly.
