J.R. ReedJ.R. Reed joined the USF coaching staff in July 2009 and will serve as a graduate assistant for the defense during the 2009 season. The former USF standout will assist defensive coordinator Joe Tresey with the Bulls secondary.

Prior to joining the USF coaching staff, Reed owned a five-year career in the NFL from 2004-2008, playing with the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Rams, New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reed was selected by the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft, where he went on to win the NFC Championship against the Falcons and meet the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX.

A standout defensive back for the Bulls from 2000-03, Reed still holds the team record for most interceptions in a game (3) and career (18) and is tied for the most interceptions in a season (7). A three-year starter, Reed garnered numerous team and conference awards during his outstanding career.

The Tampa, Fla., native arrived at USF after starring at Hillsborough High School.
