Brad Scott joined the USF program as Chief of Staff in 2020. He will once again work alongside his son, Bulls head coach Jeff Scott, after the pair worked side-by-side for many successful seasons at Clemson under head coach Dabo Swinney.
Scott, from Arcadia, Fla., has deep roots in Florida, having served for 11 seasons as an assistant coach at Florida State under Bobby Bowden and also as a high school coach at DeSoto County and Hardee County high schools in the state. Scott served his last four seasons at Florida State as offensive coordinator, helping develop Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward and the “Fast Break” offense the Seminoles used to win the 1993 national title.
Scott later served as head coach at South Carolina from 1994-98, taking the Gamecocks to the 1994 Carquest Bowl, before joining the Clemson program in 1999.
He served as offensive coordinator at Clemson from 2001-03, offensive line coach from 2003-11 and tight end coach from 1999-2003. In the 2008 season, he was named associate head coach under Swinney. Jeff was a wide receiver at Clemson during Scott’s stint as offensive coordinator and the pair later served on the staff together. Following the 2011 season, Scott transitioned to assistant athletics director/player development for the Clemson program and was part of five straight College Football Playoff appearances, four CFP Championship game appearances (2015, 2016, 2018 & 2019 seasons) and national titles in the 2016 and 2018 seasons for the Tigers.
He and his wife, Daryle, are parents to sons Jeff and John, a trauma surgeon in Ann Arbor, Mich. Scott graduated from USF in 1979 majoring in Biology and Science Education.
