Phil Cane has been working with the USF football program since being a student in 2008 and has served as Director of Video for the Bulls since 2014.

Cane was named the 2024-2025 American Athletic Conference Video Coordinator of the Year, being selected by his peers for his fourth conference honor. He was also named the Conference Video Coordinator of the Year for the American Athletic Conference by the Collegiate Sports Video Association in 2018, 2020, and 2022.

In his role as Director of Football Video, Cane develops and maintains inventory of video editing equipment and supplies while developing the yearly budget for the department. He researches and pursues advancements in technology and methods while editing and maintaining USF's team film and opponent scouting and play study archives using XOS Thunder Software. 

Cane oversees and trains the football video department staff and maintains film exchange programs with other organizations as well as works with professional team scouts to assist in evaluation of USF student-athletes. 

Prior his current position, Cane worked for USF football as an assistant video and network manager from 2012-14. His main duties consisted of filming all practices and games, setting up film rooms during game weeks and preparing coaches clinics and teaching tapes using DVSport Video Software.

Cane graduated from USF in 2013 with a bachelors degree in economics. 

A native of Atlantic Beach, FL, Cane attended D.U. Fletcher High School. He has been a member of the Collegiate Sports Video Association since 2010.
