Walter Bell is entering his thirteenth year as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of South Florida.  Working primarily with men’s tennis, women’s tennis and volleyball.  Bell has worked with football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and other sports while at USF.

At USF, Bell has implemented strength and conditioning training plans for nine conference championship teams, 10 NCAA tournament teams and 1 National Volleyball Invitation Tournament team. Women Golf (2011-2012), Men Golf (2012-2012), Men Tennis (2014,2015,2016,2017,2019), Women Tennis (2014, 2017). NCAA appearances, Women Golf (2012), Men Golf (2013), Men Tennis (2014, 2015 ,2016 ,2017, 2019, 2022), Women Tennis (2011, 2014, 2017).  NVIC Tournament, Volleyball (2018).

Prior to USF, Bell was a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach at East Carolina from 2008-11. There he worked with men’s basketball, women’s basketball, football, swimming and diving, women’s soccer, volleyball and various other sports.

During his time at ECU, Bell also served as a strength and conditioning intern and a health fitness intern at the Greenville Aquatics and Fitness Center in 2008. From 2006-08, he was a personal trainer at ECU’s student recreation center.

Bell graduated from East Carolina University with his Batchelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science.  He completed his Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Sports Management at Northcentral University.  He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with NSCA.  He is also a certified USAW Weightlifting Level I and a member of CSCCA. He is also a certified tennis performance specialist with International Tennis Performance Association.     

Bell served seven years in the US Army. During his military career, Bell competed in basketball at the company, battalion, and post level where he won seven championships as part of those teams. He served at Ft. Jackson, Ft. Monmouth, Ft. Bragg, Camp Colbern Korea, Kaiserslautern, Germany and Baharain. He continues to play basketball in local leagues and competes in weightlifting competitions.

Bell is married to the former Charlene Wade and has three daughters (Krystle, India and Ashley) and two sons (Nazareth and Micheal).
