Anita Fanelli begins her sixth season as associate athletic trainer at USF, and her second season with the women’s basketball program. Fanelli has worked with the sports medicine program at USF since 2015 and is responsible for the athletic training needs of the women’s basketball and sailing programs. In addition, Fanelli is also responsible for verifying primary medical insurance for all international student-athletes, coordinating secondary medical insurance claims, procedures, and payments, among numerous other duties.
Prior to USF, Fanelli served as the head athletic trainer at Hunter College in New York City from 2009-15. While at Hunter, Fanelli was responsible for managing the athletic training services for 18 varsity sports and over 280 student-athletes, while also developing and annually updating all athletic training policies and procedures for both student-athletes and coaches. She also coordinated the administered of the secondary athletics’ medical insurance program, provided CPR/AED and first aid training annually for coaches and staff, and implemented staff and student-athlete education and policy management of NCAA required policies.
Fanelli also worked in the sports medicine departments at Moravian College, Chestnut Hill College, Franklin & Marshall College and her alma mater Millersville University.
Fanelli earned her bachelor’s degree from Millersville in 1985 and her master’s degree in 1988. She became a Certified Athletic Trainer in 1987.
