Biography
2024-25: Started in four contests for USF…Aarino dished out a career-best seven assists and grabbed four rebounds in the win against Temple (Jan. 4)…Added a season-high seven points in win against Northwestern St. (Dec. 17)…Aarnio matched a career-best four assists against Mount St. Mary’s (Nov. 7).
2023-24: Saw action in 27 contests and started in three games for South Florida… put up two or more points in seven games…started and added a season-best five points in the win against Wichita State (Feb. 13)..started and saw 10 minutes of action against No. 12/12 Texas (Nov. 25) in the Paradise Jam.
2022-23: Saw action in 25 games for the Bulls with one start … Averaged 1.4 points per game and 0.6 assists per outing … Scored a career-high eight points in her collegiate debut against Morehead State (Nov. 7) to go along with a career-best four assists and two steals … Fell one point shy of equaling that mark, two games later, with seven points against Jacksonville (Nov. 13) … Scored four points four times including in her only start of the year against New Hampshire (Nov. 22).
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Represented Finland at the 2023 FISU Games…played in five contests…averaged 3.6 ppg across the tournament…had a tournament-high 6 points (3-for-3) against Brazil...Spent the Summer of 2022 playing for the Finland U20 National Team in the FIBA European Championships ... Averaged 7.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per contest as Finland finished ninth in the 16-nation event ... Scored her tournament high of 13 points against Sweden – and current South Florida teammate, Emma Johansson – in the group phase and followed that up with 12 points and five assists against Hungary ... Also had 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals against Lithuania, and 11 points and three assists against Latvia ... Was also a member of Finland’s U18 and U16 National Teams ... Averaged 11.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.8 steals per outing in eight games in the 2019 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship en route to All-Tournament honors, scoring in double figures five times … Finland defeated Greece in the championship, 63-56, earning the country’s first-ever FIBA title ... Scored a tournament-high 17 points in the championship game of the U18 event, against Greece, on 7-for-11 shooting from the field, 2-for-3 from behind the arc and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line en route to the title … Also scored 16 points against Denmark and 14 points and a tournament-high eight rebounds against Slovenia ... Helped lead Finland to a bronze medal in the FIBA U16 European Championships … Averaged 15.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.8 steals per outing, while also shooting 41.6 percent from the field ... Against Albania, nearly posted a quadruple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals and six assists … She also poured in 20 points and had eight steals against Bosnia and Herzegovina during the group phase, before eventually netting 19 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the bronze medal game against Belarus ... Has also spent time with the Finland Senior National Team, playing four games and averaging 9.8 points per contest before being sidelined due to an injury ... In addition, Aarnio has been part of three Nordic Championships and has been a three-time all-star.
CLUB EXPERIENCE: Previously played her club basketball for the Helsinki Basketball Academy (HBA) ... Averaging 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while helping to guide her team to the league semifinals, the first in HBA’s history ... Scored double-figures in 14 games for HBA, and 20-or-more points five times … Had 24 points, twice, against Kouvot and Honka … Also had 23 points against Pyrinto and 22 and 20 against ViVe ... Recorded her only double-double of the season in the opener with 15 points and 11 rebounds against Espoo.
