Andrew Gapinski joined the University of South Florida Athletic Communications office in July 2023. He oversees all public relations efforts for South Florida women’s basketball and men’s soccer, managing media relations, game notes, social media, content development, GoUSFBulls.com updates, and other communications duties.

At USF, Gapinski led the planning and execution of Head Coach Jose Fernandez’s 25th Anniversary celebration and season-long campaign during the 2024-25 season, which generated increased media coverage and elevated the national profile of the women’s basketball program.

Before joining South Florida, Gapinski served as a Communications Assistant at Syracuse University, where he was the primary communications contact for volleyball and tennis, and the secondary contact for men’s basketball. His responsibilities for men’s basketball included previews and recaps, media credentials, seating and photo charts, flip cards, game notes, statistical research, and press row operations at the JMA Wireless Dome. He also provided support for football, women’s basketball, softball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse as needed.

Previously, Gapinski was a Graduate Assistant in Sports Information at Gardner-Webb University, where he managed communications for eight varsity programs and assisted in hosting Big South Conference championships in basketball, softball, and golf.

His additional experience includes roles with the Jacksonville Icemen (ECHL), U.S. Masters Swimming (National Governing Body), and the Florida Tropics Soccer Club (MASL).

Gapinski is an active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). He earned his Master of Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University in May 2022 and his Bachelor of Science in Communications from Florida Southern College in May 2019.
