Iban Lopez

Iban Lopez was promoted to his current position in 2020 after serving as a volunteer assistant from 2016-2018 and an assistant coach from 2018-2020.

Lopez, who is noted for his tactician skills, played a crucial role in organizing the team during each of its last five NCAA tournament runs.

Lopez helped coach the team through losing multiple impact seniors in each of the last two years, continuing to assist the team to an AAC Championship and NCAA tournament appearance in 2021. 

Lopez helped Schilte-Brown coach the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and the American Athletic Conference Championship game during the team’s record-breaking season in 2018, and has since followed it up with strategizing for two more NCAA tournaments and AAC championships, including a NCAA third round appearance in 2019 and a sweep of the conference titles in 2020. 
 
Lopez spent the 2017 championship season serving as a tactician for the team. He helped develop the soccer game model as well as tactical game plans and provided analysis of opponents and players. He was crucial in the adaptation of training methodology and preparation for training.
 
Lopez possesses 20 years of experience coaching in Spain and the U.S. and attained a UEFA Pro license in 2016. He arrived at USF in 2016 as a volunteer after serving as the director of soccer academy at CD Conxo in Spain.
