Macy Franklin enters her third year at the University of South Florida in 2021. In her role as Assistant Athletic Trainer, her primary sport responsibility is the USF Women’s Soccer program. Franklin also serves as a preceptor for the USF and Gannon University Athletic Training Program.
Prior to her arrival in Tampa, Franklin served as a Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Louisville from 2019 to 2020. In her time there, she was responsible for the Women’s Tennis and Women’s Soccer Programs.
Franklin’s career began as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer the University of Alabama for Women’s Rowing and Women’s Tennis from 2017-19. At Alabama, Macy managed the healthcare of Novice and Varsity Rowing teams, coordinated the pre-participation physicals of over 100 student athletes, and was a Clinical Coordinator for off campus outreach physician clinics. Additionally, she volunteered her time to gain more experience by assisting with Alabama Football and women’s soccer experience during her summers. Macy graduated from the University of Alabama with her Master of Arts in Health Studies in 2019.
Before her career as an Athletic Trainer, Franklin attended Wingate University as an Athletic Training Student and Women’s Soccer Student Athlete. Franklin also served as an Athletic Training Student Intern at Disney ESPN Wide World of Sports. She graduated from Wingate University in 2017 with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a Minor in Spanish.
Continuing to develop her clinical skillset, she is in the process of earning a Graduate Certificate from USF in Health and Wellness Coaching and becoming a Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She holds additional certifications in Blood Flow Restriction and CPR/AED technique. She is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and Licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Florida. She holds membership in the National Athletic Trainer's Association, South Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association, and College Athletic Trainers’ Society.
Outside of Athletic Training, Macy spends time at Tampa Preparatory School as an Assistant Soccer Coach. She currently resides in Tampa with her dog Remy. She also enjoys playing soccer and beach volleyball in her free time, going the beach, and exploring Tampa with Remy.
