Travers Green

Travers Green joined USF Athletics in March 2014 and will enter his fifth season as the volleyball team’s Assistant Coach in 2018.

He has coached at the high school, club and college levels since 2006.

His responsibilities include the recruiting of Florida, international and junior college. Travers also oversees the team’s camps, equipment, video/stats, and primarily works with the setters. Green also calls USF's block and defensive schemes in match. 

During his tenure, Travers has increased the Bulls' assists per set average each season from 11.48 in 2014, to 12.17 in 2015 and 12.42 in 2016.

In 2016, Travers guided junior setter Alex Mendoza to 10.7 assists per set, third best in The American. Travers continued to cultivate the setter position in 2017. Mendoza became just the fifth player in program history to reach 3,000 career assists on Nov. 5, and exits USF with 3,147 career helpers, ranking her fourth on the all-time list. The Bulls also utilized a two setter rotation in the final month of the year. Junior transfer Briana Stowell came into her own in November, as she averaged more than 15 assists per match. 

Travers came to the Bulls with a strong knowledge of Florida’s talent pool. He served as an assistant coach with Florida International University (2011-13) while also maintaining the role of head coach and club administrator at Orlando Volleyball Academy (2008-12). Travers has also learned from former Olympians Rita Buck-Crockett and Felix Hou.

When he is not at USF, Travers coaches Team Florida High Performance and has done so since 2013. In the summer of 2017, Green helped lead Team Florida to a gold medal at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. In the summer of 2015, his squad earned a silver medal in the Youth International Division at the High Performance Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. In 2014, his team won a bronze medal in the Junior International Division.

In addition to Team Florida, Travers has also been active with the Florida region of USA volleyball. In 2014, he joined the coaching staff of the Florida Wave, a professional team in the Premier Volleyball League.

In 2016, Travers helped guide the Wave to the PVL Championship. During the four-day tournament, he was responsible for overseeing the team’s defense and blocking scheme which helped the Wave win a $10,000 prize for the championship. It was the crowning achievement for the Wave, which finished fourth in 2015 and took home the Silver Medal in 2014.

In 2008, Travers was named the head coach of Lake Mary High School, where he posted a 61-23 record over four years. His teams won the conference twice and earned a district championship in 2010.

He was named Seminole Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2010, and was the 2010 Male Coach of the Year while at Orlando Volleyball Academy.

An Orlando, Fla. native, Travers graduated from Florida State in 2008 with a B.S. in Recreation and Leisure Services Administration.
