Jamie Quarles joined the University of South Florida men’s basketball program as an assistant coach in April 2025. He brings with him more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience to USF.

Quarles comes to Tampa following two seasons at Arkansas State, where he was promoted to associate head coach ahead of the 2024–25 campaign. That season, he helped lead the team to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).

Quarles originally joined the Red Wolves staff as an assistant coach in March 2023 under head coach Bryan Hodgson, with whom he also worked alongside during two seasons at the University of Buffalo.

Before Arkansas State, Quarles spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Buffalo, including the 2022–23 season as associate head coach. During his time with the Bulls, the program posted a 129-62 overall record and a 76-32 mark in Mid-American Conference play, which included their best season in program history in 2018-19 (32-4) and first top-25 ranking. He helped lead the team to two MAC regular-season titles, two conference tournament championships, two NCAA Tournament appearances, and NIT appearance. His coaching resume includes a MAC Player of the Year, three MAC Defensive Players of the Year, three Sixth Man of the Year honorees, and 15 All-MAC selections.

In the summer of 2022, Quarles was selected to participate in the prestigious Jay Bilas Coaches Leadership Program, which recognizes rising leaders in the coaching profession.

Quarles began his collegiate coaching career at Augusta University (formerly Augusta State University), where he served six seasons as the program’s top assistant from 2011 to 2017. He helped lead the Jaguars to multiple NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and a Peach Belt Conference East Division title in 2017. He also held coaching positions at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia and King College in Tennessee.

As a player, Quarles was a standout guard at Augusta from 2004 to 2008. He helped lead the Jaguars to 85 wins and a berth in the NCAA Division II national championship game his senior year.

A native of Augusta, Georgia, Quarles earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Augusta State University in 2008 and a master’s degree in kinesiology and health science in 2013.
