(November 1, 2005) Jackson, Miss. -- The USF men's golf team won the Sam Hill Intercollegiate in Jackson, Miss. and the Bulls'
Kevin Tilbury took medalist honors. The Bulls had an 848 total including a final round 290 and they won in a sudden death playoff with host Southern Mississippi. Tilbury shot rounds of 68-67-70 to claim his title.
Other USF golfers included
Justin Fetcho (69-68-75),
Tyler Hitchcock (72-69-71), Brandon Lee (69-78-74) and
Chris Black (70-80-75).
"The team has played well all semester," says USF head coach
Jim Fee. "They have worked very hard and it's great to watch it all come together. They've done a great job and they should be very proud of themselves. We all look forward to continued success."
The team has one more fall tournament this weekend in Winter Garden, Fla., where it will participate in the BIG EAST-MAC Challenge at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge. The field will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday and the event is open to the public.
