Bulls Continue Rainbow Classic With 61-56 Setback To Oregon State

HONOLULU (AP) -- The University of South Florida men's basketball team (5-5) came up short in its matchup with Oregon State (5-4) Thursday afternoon at the Rainbow Classic, falling by a score of 61-56.

The Beavers (5-4) will play Western Michigan on Friday for fifth place. USF (5-5) faces Loyola Marymount for seventh in the eight-team tournament.

Sasa Cuic added 12 points, including three 3-pointers for Oregon State.

Solomon Jones led USF with 19 points and 10 rebounds. James Holmes added 18 points for the Bulls. The team shot just 42.9 percent from the floor for the game and connected on only 12-of-20 chances from the charity stripe.

USF closed to 57-56 with 1:22 left, but OSU's Chris Stephens, who shot 8-of-15 from the field, scored the final four points for the Beavers to seal the win.

The Beavers led 33-25 at the half.
