JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (October 11, 2006) ? After splitting the first four games of its match at North Florida tonight, the USF volleyball team jumped to a 7-1 lead in the fifth game and held on for a 34-36, 30-19, 30-24, 25-30, 15-10 non-conference win.
USF (8-10, 3-2) was led by junior Kristina Fabris and redshirt freshman Marcela Gurgel, who combined for 41 kills and 23 digs in the match. Ashley Reavis and Johari Williams each contributed 12 kills and Stephanie Augustavo had a team-high 25 digs.
North Florida (10-13) could only manage a .138 hitting percentage in defeat, while USF finished at .218. USF did have to overcome 17 service errors, seven more than UNF. The Bulls did out-block the Ospreys by a 30-14 margin.
The Bulls now ready themselves for a return to Big East match-up with a Saturday match at Georgetown (6-12, 0-5).
