TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Donald Copeland and Kelly Whitney had 21 points each Wednesday as Seton Hall defeated USF, 70-65.
Melvin Buckley tied his career-high with 26 points for USF (6-16, 0-9), which has lost 11 straight games. It's the Bulls' longest losing skid since a school-record 12-game streak in 1980.
USF took a 57-53 lead with eight minutes left after Solomon Jones scored four straight points, including a slam dunk. But Seton Hall scored 11 of the next 15 points, keyed by Copeland's three-point play and long-range jumper, to take a 64-61 advantage at the four-minute mark.
Copeland made it 67-63 on a free throw with 44 seconds remaining. Jones' basket with 25.9 seconds remaining got South Florida within 67-65.
Jamar Nutter and Whitney closed out the scoring for Seton Hall with three free throws.
Copeland hit a pair of 3's during an 11-4 run over the final two minutes of the first half that put Seton Hall ahead 44-40. There were seven changes and 12 ties in the first half.
Jones finished with 18 points for USF.
It was the sixth consecutive victory for Seton Hall (15-6, 6-3 Big East), which plays top-ranked Connecticut on Saturday.
